“We have made it our mission to provide a robust, reliable and multifunctional product”
Peter Schmidt, owner Pepec
Everyone who is familiar with pick-up trucks know that they are used for rough environments. Both interior and exterior applications on these vehicles need to measure up to the rest. German based Pepec has got that covered, with the help from trusted partners.
Every step of the way
Pepec’s core business is designing and building flatbed trays, canopies and toolboxes for pick-up trucks. They are always responsive to what their customers want and after discussing this, the team at Pepec designs, builds and installs the unit on the truck. By being involved every step of the way, the customer realises that they are dealing with a professional and trustworthy supplier.
“The type of trucks that we work with commonly have several areas for storage, but they are usually not adapted to the customers’ needs. So we replace the trays with our own, specialized solutions. For example, our boxes are accessible from all three sides, they have extra storage space and lots of different compartments suitable for the storage area. They are the perfect fit for an off-road vehicle where the extra storage space is an added bonus”, Peter Schmidt, owner at Pepec says.
Rough products for rough vehicles
Pepec mostly equip vehicles up to 3.5 ton. They specialise in Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux and VW Amarok chassis. But brands like Izuzu, Dodge Ram, Mitsubishi L 200 or Nissan Navara are also in their repertoire. Working with 3.5 ton is the most interesting segment for Pepec since companies nowadays struggle to find drivers who are allowed to drive trucks over this limit. Like most vehicles that operate in a rough environment, the trucks provided by Pepec need applications that can withstand corrosion, dust, dirt and environmental conditions. They also need to be robust, durable and easy to replace if needed.
“I was looking for a supplier that provided flap closures and I found Industrilas by doing research on the internet. Through my contact with Industrilas, I was referred to Ulrich Lickert. And right from the start, I was clear with him that I needed a supplier who knows my product, who knows my requirements, who is solid and to whom I can communicate with quickly and direct. Industrilas has a wide range of products, and we use Industrilas Vector T2 and T3, hinges and sealing profiles. My job gets a lot easier by using several products from one supplier. For Pepec, a working supply chain is a must, and we have to rely on our suppliers to deliver high quality products. Industrilas fulfills these requirements 100 %”, Peter says.
Partnership is the key
It is important to have partners that you can trust, and there is no exception for Pepec. They mainly choose suppliers locally from Germany and they always make sure that their partners provide high quality products and components.
“I see partnerships as something long-term. We choose our partners in such a way that we can be with them in the long run. A partnership is an exchange, a give and take and both sides of the partnership need to have requirements to one another and follow them. We always look for partners who are going to be loyal to us and Industrilas is one of these partners. We have been working together for a long time now and we have a mutual trust and understanding.
I am very pleased with Ulrich Lickert as my contact person at Industrilas and how our partnership runs”, Peter explains.
Ulrich Lickert, Sales Engineer at Industrilas AG agrees with Peters statement about the importance of partnership.
“I was Pepec’s initial point of contact, and it worked very well between us from the beginning. It is important for me to build a long lasting relationship and that we trust each other. Since the get-go, I have enjoyed working with Pepec and their product. They really pay attention to what their customers want and take that in consideration when designing the storage boxes”, Ulrich says.
Spreading joy
Having fun is a common denominator for Peter and his team. One of his future goals is to remain a family business and to continue Pepec’s journey.
“We have fun when we build our products, and I believe that this joy is contagious. Our customers get to enjoy a great product and when the customers are happy, so are we. And that is the way it is, and I hope always will be — everyone should have fun when working with us”, Peter finishes off.
Industrilas is happy to be Pepec’s partner and we wish them nothing but a successful and fun journey ahead.
